Let’s Eat!: Restaurants Create Their Own Websites
We checked out a new website builder called LetsEat.at which enables restaurants to build their own website quickly and simply, much like setting up a blog. The visitor simply chooses a theme and enters in their restaurant information such as contact details, photos, directions, menu, etc. The site can go live in a matter of minutes.
Things we like: The site is mobile friendly and search engine optimized. It walks you through the website creation process step by step, gathering relevant restaurant information such as credit cards accepted, hours, and directions. Knowing how many restaurants tend to omit critical information about themselves on their websites, this format is quite helpful. It’s also a clean, consistent layout. The contact us form, coupon creation and the image gallery are great features as well.
Some things to know: In order to make this website feel like your own, you’ll want to have things like photography and a logo ready to upload. Without those assets, the look of the site could be somewhat generic. Another note: Google ads automatically display in the restaurant’s website and don’t appear to be removable. It’s also not clear how well the site will integrate with 3rd party applications or features. Lastly, there are some layout issues such as the prominent credit card images on every page that could use updating.
If you are looking for a fully branded website for your restaurant with lots of bells and whistles and a high degree of control, a LetsEat template may not be the right option for you. However, in comparison to other restaurant template sites, this one is far more attractive and user-friendly. It’s a great option for a restaurant who wants something quick and simple that they can manage themselves. As the LetsEat site is currently in beta, we look forward to their rolling out new features.
